Le Caveau de la Huchette — l’âme jazz du Quartier Latin

Le Caveau de la Huchette est l’un des clubs de jazz les plus célèbres d’Europe, situé au cœur du Quartier Latin à Paris. Le bâtiment date du XVIᵉ siècle et ses salles souterraines voûtées créent une atmosphère de labyrinthe ancien, transportant les visiteurs à travers les époques.

Du Moyen Âge à la scène jazz

En 1949, ce lieu historique est devenu un club de jazz, rapidement devenu incontournable pour les amateurs de swing et de bebop. Parmi les musiciens légendaires qui s’y sont produits :

  • Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Art Blakey (USA)

  • Claude Luter, Claude Bolling (France)

  • Sidney Bechet et Bill Coleman, expatriés américains à Paris

Le club au cinéma

Le Caveau de la Huchette a également été mis en avant dans plusieurs films :

  • Les Tricheurs (Marcel Carné)

  • Bonjour Tristesse (1958)

  • La La Land (2016, Damien Chazelle)

Influence sur la culture mondiale

Le club a inspiré la création du Cavern Club à Liverpool, où The Beatles ont commencé leur carrière. L’architecture souterraine et les arches en briques du Cavern Club rappellent celles du Caveau parisien.

Aujourd’hui Le Caveau de la Huchette continue de préserver la tradition du jazz live sous la direction du vibraphoniste français Dany Doriz, accueillant touristes et Parisiens désireux de ressentir l’histoire et le rythme du jazz sous les voûtes centenaires.
